Your journey
How this works...

Your soothe system
Before we look at food, movement, or body image… we start somewhere quieter, building a sense of safety within yourself.

Your guiding values
In AuraWell, values aren’t about pressure or self-improvement. They’re about permission. A way of reconnecting with who you already are. Your personal compass.

Body image space
Soften unhelpful beliefs, relate to yourself differently, and begin building a steadier, more positive relationship with your body.

Nutrition space
Build awareness of your eating patterns, reconnect with your body’s signals, and a more trusting relationship with food.

Movement space
Explore movement in a way that feels supportive, and gradually build a more sustainable relationship with exercise, guided by your body rather than pressure.

Ongoing support
Support is there when you need it. From quiet companionship with Aura, to weekly reflections, to noticing patterns and capturing small moments.
Ben Stanners MSc - Founder, AuraWell
8 years coaching. I kept seeing thoughtful, self-aware people stuck in the same cycles, not because they weren't trying, but because everything they'd been given was rooted in pressure and control.
AuraWell is the tool I wished I could hand to every one of them.
A space that doesn’t push or rush change, but helps you build a different relationship with yourself, one that actually feels sustainable.

Compassion backed.
Don't worry, we got you.
No performance tracking. No goals to fix your body. Healing happens through safety, not control. Over time, this opens space for body image healing and a more flexible, caring relationship with food and movement.
Go at your pace. No pressure to go deeper than you’re ready for. You move forward through support and repetition, not pressure or perfection.
This isn’t about positivity or pushing through. You learn what real compassion sounds like and how to develop a compassionate inner voice.
Not another plan, system or set of rules to follow, but support that meets you where you are.
The research behind AuraWell
Simple insights from research that shape how AuraWell supports your relationship with food, your body, and exercise.
Real change can come from support, not pressure
A meta-analysis of 21 randomised trials found that compassion-based interventions were linked with improvements in self-compassion, mindfulness, anxiety, depression, psychological distress, and wellbeing.
Change did not come from trying harder or gaining more control.
It came from changing how people responded to themselves internally — with more support, steadiness, and care.
Why you move matters more than how you look
When exercise is driven by how your body feels — strength, energy, health, or capability — people tend to feel better about their bodies.
When it is driven more by appearance, the opposite tends to happen.
This is part of why AuraWell does not focus on behaviour alone. It also cares about the motivation underneath the behaviour, because that shapes the psychological outcome too.
A kinder voice can soften the impact of comparison
Higher self-compassion is associated with weaker links between body comparison, appearance-based self-worth, and body appreciation.
That means the same pressures may still be present, but they do not land in quite the same way.
This positions self-compassion as more than reassurance, it can act as a protective factor in how body-related pressures affect us.
A softer relationship with yourself may support steadier choices
Research in this area suggests self-compassion and self-kindness may support healthier behaviour change, including around eating and weight regulation.
The proposed shift is not through harsher control, but through less self-criticism, more self-care, and a steadier response to difficulty.
That is why AuraWell focuses on how you relate to yourself around food — not just on the food behaviour in isolation.
Three systems. One relationship.
Our brains are made up of three emotional regulation systems that shape how we feel, eat, move, cope, and relate to ourselves.

Protect
Anxiety, shame, self-criticism, fear, scanning for danger.

Achieve
Striving, pressure, doing, improving, pushing for more.

Rest & connect
Safety, warmth, calm, compassion, recovery and repair.
Most of us are set up to become threat- and drive-dominant. Pressure, comparison, perfectionism, urgency, and constant self-monitoring keep us activated, while the soothe system gets far less practice.
When soothe is underdeveloped, it often shows up as overthinking, emotional eating, body shame, all-or-nothing patterns, difficulty resting, and feeling like you are always either pushing or collapsing.
When safety becomes more available, everything else becomes easier to relate to with steadiness, flexibility, and balance.

Threat helps us notice danger. Drive moves us forward. Soothe allows rest, recovery, and connection. The goal is balance.
